Water Calculation Tool for the Textile Wet Processing Sector
Section 1 - Background Information
Enter a response to questions 1.1 through to 1.10 in the boxes provided. Select from a drop-down list where indicated by "Select an option".
Section 2 - Data Input
a) Enter the number of operational days per year. This must not be greater than 365.
b) Enter information related to wash water: (i) select a time period; (ii) enter the weight of the material processed in each wash; (iii) specify the number of washes in the relevant time period; and (iv) enter the total volume of water used in each wash (in litres).
c) If you have actual measured data for each process (in litres) enter this into 2.3: (i) select a time period; (ii) enter the total weight of material (in kg); and (iii) enter the total volume of water used in each process (in litres), including cooling water usage.
d) If you do not have actual measured data you can generate estimates using 2.4, 2.5, and 2.6. These methods are based on data held per batch, per rate of flow (for continuous processes), and based on liquor ratio.
Note 1: You can use all of the above methods to enter information if required (i.e. if you do not have measured data for a particular process). But be careful not to double count.
Note 2: If your company measure water in terms of gallons please use the following box to convert water quantities into litres:
gallons = 0 litres
